Winter 2016 saw Figure of Eight undertake and deliver a record number of ice rink projects, 13 in total. Figure of Eight provided all sound, lighting, rigging and electrical services for ice rinks across the country ranging from sites at the Historic Tower of London to Birmingham's modern Centenary Sq. We provided a great deal of equipment including over 500 LED fittings, 80 speakers, 100 distribution boards and over 6km of cabling. Our ability to deliver multiple projects with different requirements simultaneously is one of our strongest assets. With over 120 component parts on any one project, preparation is key and making sure each installation would stand the test of time. We worked to ensure every component was prepared, installed and programmed to our clients exacting standards in order to endure the tough weather conditions.
Figure of Eight invested heavily in LED technology this year with the addition of Elation E Spot 3 moving head fixtures which help to exceed the brief set down by the client to create an eye catching scene on the walls of Tower of London. The powerful 90w LED units not only delivered a crystal clear gobo projection but also helped further reduce our carbon footprint by increasing it's stocks of LED equipment.
Great consideration had to be taken regrading all electrical systems to allow for the weather, duration and demand placed upon it. The systems also needed to allow for systematic shut down overnight to save energy whilst allowing crucial parts to be left powered up in the damp environments.
Ice Rink consultant and Tower of London Production manager commented "Working with Figure of Eight is always a pleasure. They have proven to be team players, helping us to achieve high standards of lighting and sound installation, with views to future progression. I am confident that Figure of Eight will continue to help us to exceed our clients’ expectations and wow visitors"
